I had the opportunity to hunt with Wilderness Quest in New Zealand in April of 2011. While there, the outfitter asked me if I had ever hunted with a crossbow. I had, taking a black bear and several deer over the recent past. He asked if I would like to hunt Wapiti/Red Stag with a crossbow. I said that I would, but I'd have to shoot it first, so he brought it over. At 40 yards it was right on. It was the Parker Tornado Crossbow, using the RED HOT arrow and 100 gr. RED HOT Broadhead - which I thought was a little light for such a large animal.
The 100 gr. did its thing, as did the Tornado and the arrow! The Stag is a 6X7 and scored 363 1/8 SCI. He does not have the "crown" on the horns which is usual in these New Zealand Red Stag/Elk crosses, but rather the typical Elk headgear. As such, it appears that this trophy will be the new #1 in the SCI book for Typical Red Stag/Elk crosses in the South Pacific.
I wanted to to say thank you for producing such quality equipment.
