Aiden Clark, my nine year old son, received his new Parker Challenger Crossbow kit several weeks prior to the Indiana Youth Turkey Season. The bow was purchased from Parker’s Archery in Spencer Indiana and in very short order Aiden was shooting bullseyes with it. Parker’s Archery holds an annual turkey hunting seminar and Aiden was drawn as a lucky recipitent of a FREE turkey mount, performed by Wildgame Nation Taxidermy, if he harvested a bird during the youth season. The day before the youth season opened he and I scouted and found the perfect location to hunt. To say he was excited about the upcoming hunt would have been a huge understatement! On the first evening of the season, April 21, 2012, he shot this 21 lb., 23 mm spurs, 10 5/8” bearded tom. The bird only went a very short distance after Aiden made a perfect 25 yd. shot. After the shot, he was so excited he could only say “I got him” over and over again. He is already looking forward to the fall when he can deer hunt with his Challenger Crossbow.
